I Just Wanted To Share This Message!

THE BRICK

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag’s side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, ‘What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That’s a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?’ The young boy was apologetic. ‘Please, mister….please, I’m sorry but I didn’t know what else to do,’ He pleaded. ‘I threw the brick because no one else would stop…’ With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. ‘It’s my brother,’ he said ‘He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can’t lift him up.’ Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned Executive, ‘Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He’s hurt and he’s too heavy for me.’

Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay. ‘Thank you and may God bless you,’ the grateful child told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.

It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message: ‘Don’t go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!’ God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don’t have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It’s our choice to listen or not.

Thoughts for the Day:

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.

If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.

He sends you flowers every spring.

He sends you a sunrise every morning.

Face it, my friends – He is crazy about you!

God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

Read this line very slowly and let it sink in…

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

p.s.  A very dear friend of mine sent this to me via email along with some very beautiful pictures.  As you all know I am not very computer savvy and I was unable to include the pictures here.  However, the story itself got me very choked up and I wanted to share it with my friends.

Non-Traditional Pink Christmas Card!

This is a card I made for a challenge for a non-traditional Christmas card.  It’s also for Breast Cancer Awareness Month…hence all of the Pink.  The card is all pinks and lime green.  The camera makes part of it look red but believe me there is no red in it.  I used stickles and then put my thumb in it before it dried (on the green stripes).  Then of course I didn’t notice this because it was 2:00 a.m. as usual for me, so when I got up today I had glitter all over my face.  What fun!  Anyway, here is my rendition of a Pink Christmas!Hugz 🙂

Happy Sweetest Day!!!

Happy Sweetest Day everyone.  I just wanted to say hello and share the card I made for hubby.  He just had a birthday and I bought his card from Hallmark.  You would have thought it was the end of the world.  He said I didn’t think he was good enough for one of my personal cards.  Sooo not true, I honestly thought he would prefer a perfect card.  Anyway, I decided to make his Sweetest Day card and I must say he absolutely loved it!!!This card was so much fun to make but the image is so large there isn’t room to add much else to the card.  To perk it up a little I added some stickles…the stickles really pop but it doesn’t show very well in this picture.  The stamp is a Happy Hopper and the cardstock is SU basic black, chocolate chip and yoyo yellow all colored with copics.

My Sweetest Day gift came in the mail today.  Actually it’s something I purchased myself.  A couple of nights ago I was on-line and decided to check out eBay just for the fun of it.  I came across a buy it now auction for Stamping Bellas for $20 and free shipping.  Take a look at what my twenty dollars got me.

Can you believe my luck?  The listing had been up for less than an hour and it was about 3:00a.m. – not too many shoppers at that time.  I told hubby please do not get me any flowers this year for Sweetest Day because I have been buying my own presents more often than he knows.  Besides, if he’s going to spend money, get me a gift card not flowers that are going to die in a week right?  That’s all for now…I hope all of you have a great weekend ahead of you.  The weather here is glorious, the hot tub was delivered today, the electrical will be hooked up tomorrow, and we will be in it tomorrow night.  You know my weekend looks bright!!!

New Bellas & Little Monkeys Storage System!

Well, here it is about 2:00 a.m., the middle of the night. and I am writing my blog.  This is actually my usual time for writing.  So if things are a little quirky or don’t make sense the fact that it’s waaay past bedtime could have something to do with it.  However, at this time, nobody is calling my name for anything, the dogs are snoring and even my phones aren’t ringing.  This is the most peaceful time of my day and I cherish it. How about it…are there any more night owls out there like me?

Anyway, I had to make a card for our daughter’s birthday party which is this Sunday.  Since I am not going to mail it to her I went outside of the traditional 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 size card I usually make.  This card is 5 x 5 which gives you quite a bit of room to decorate versus the smaller cards.  Not that it matters much to me since I still consider myself lucky just to complete a card.  Another problem with making different shaped cards is where do you get the envelopes to fit them.  I bought a tool at Archiver’s that helps you make envies any size you want them and it also helps you make your envies in what I would call a 3-d effect pattern.  It raises the sides of the envies about 1/8″ deep all around (great help for mailing cards with embellishments on them).  I have already made a few of my own envelopes and it is quite simple to do.  I just used my white cardstock paper and used red double sided sticky tape on all of the seams.  I wish I had thought to take a picture of one of them before I mailed them out but I didn’t.  Maybe next time.  All I can say is that I get my white cardstock (Georgia Pacific) from Sam’s Club for $7.22 for 250 sheets of paper.  This paper makes the most durable envelope I have ever seen.  This is my Daughter’s B-Day card and as I said it’s 5 x 5.  The shopping is so her, and that’s exactly what she has asked for…money to shop.

This card is for the Whiff of Joy card Challenge for this week.  The only stipulation is to use fall colors on this card.  This card is stunning in person but unfortunately my camera does it no justice.  Either it’s too old or I have let the grandchildren drop it one too many times.

The second photo shows the colored leaves that I put on the inside of the card.  It was just so brown it needed something.  This card has been made with SU Chocolate chip, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and the DP was from a matstack of Debbie Mumm.  Everything was colored with my Copics with the exception of the inside of the card.  That was done with my SU markers on a stamp so that I could just huff on it to make it stamp (oops so was the grass on the front of the card).

I have included pictures here of my Little Monkeys Storage System for all of your loose acrylic stamps.  It is an awesome way to keep them organized without having to dig through drawers for them.  The set comes with 6 cards and sleeves that measure 8×8 and I ordered an additional set of 3 sleeves.  I can already see that I will need more but what a wonderful way to keep everything organized

and easily accessible.[

I hope all of you are having a blessed week and I will try my best to have a great one too.  Before I forget, I would like to thank Kim for sending me her awesome blog candy…yes I was the lucky winner of that one.  Thank you to Debby for the awesome Halloween card (with scent – yummy) and thank you to Jacquie for another one of her awesome cards.

As I have said over and over Bellas are the best!!!

Hugz to all 🙂

Bellaholic Sketch Challenge #1

What a glorious weekend it has been here in Michigan.  The weather has been absolutely perfect and I can’t believe this…I saw gas for $2.75 a gallon today!  Wow!

Okay, on to more important things like cards.  I actually got to make a couple of cards and I though I would share them.  For some reason my camera is not taking very good pictures right now.  It has to be my camera because there is no way it can be me right~hehe~  Anyway, I tried my best with the camera and this is what I finally gave up with

This is my take on the Bellaholic Sketch Challenge #1 designed by Sarah Anderson.  Her design was great and excellent to follow.

My very first Sarah Kay card.  Ooh I love these images.  I received a few in a swap and I have been afraid to color them.  If I make a mistake I can’t just stamp out another one and try again…that’s the biggest problem with swaps and you only have 2 of the images you swapped, don’t you think?  Or am I the only chicken out there?

Yes, I have still been on a Halloween kick, but aren’t these too cute.

I was working on a couple of other challenges that needed to be posted by tonight.  Obviously so far they aren’t done but it’s only 9:30 so who knows what could happen.  I hope everyone else has had a great weekend with time to craft and wonderful weather just like I had.  I had 2 friends (actually cousins) come over yesterday and make cards all day.  It was quite fun and I hope we can do it again some time soon.  The only problem in a group is I like to watch what everyone else is doing and it gives me a great excuse to not do anything myself.  Ta-ta for now!

Blog Candy Alert!!!

I have come across a new blog for Karin http://karinhoeve.blogspot.com/ where she is having birthday card and Christmas card challenges.  It sounds like great fun to me, even though I never get in on challenges.  I’m hoping it will motivate me to have some cards on hand when I need them.  Here is the sketch for her first card challenge and her take on it.  She will be posting her sketch on Mondays and if you enter twice in a month your name will go into a drawing for a small prize.  I hope some of you will join me and also decide to participate in her challenge.

Right now Karin is also holding a blog candy until Monday, October 13 for a wonderful WoJ holiday stamp along with embellishments and paper.  Good luck to all…but I hope to win ~smile~.

Well, these are the best I could do with pics of this card.  The pictures aren’t so great but I did try (it is almost 3:00 am too so maybe that’s part of the problem).  The card looks much better in person, which is why I took 2 pictures trying to show you all of the colors of polka dots on the DP.  Very cool paper…

New Cards & Blog Candy Too!

I just have to write and let all of you know about Jacquie’s blog candy going on right now until October 15.  She has been such a blessing for me to get to know since I have joined the bellas.  I live with more than my share of migraines and somehow she knows when I am at my worst and one of her awesome cards will just show up at my door.  Today I received her Happy Hopper card and I can’t look at it without smiling from ear to ear.  Now tell me you wouldn’t smile every time you looked up and saw this adorable card looking at you.

She sent me this card…again just beause.  I love Halloween so this card is awesome and it came on a migraine day!

This is the first card she sent me…because I had a 4 day migraine.  I know the picture isn’t very good but you can check out her blog and see better picture of all of these cards.  Now you get the picture right?  Jacquie is the greatest and therefore her blog is awesome so hurry on over and check it out.

Now, believe it or not I actually made a couple of cards before I was put out of commission with this last headache.  Two of them are the new Whiff of Joy stamps and one is a stamping fella from a swap…he is for my BIL’s birthday.  I haven’t done too many guy cards, unless you count 4 year old guys, and I find them very intimidating.  Does anyone else have that problem or is it just me?

That’s it for my cards for now.  We just celebrated hubby’s bday and he was quite upset that I bought him a card so he says I still owe him one.  I just finished my granddaughter’s (and forgot to take a picture of it), darn it, my SIL below, my BIL above and still have to make my daughter’s, hubby’s, and SIL within the next two weeks.  No time for headaches!!!

I hope all of you are doing great and getting ready for Trick or Treat.  It’s one of my favorite times of the year and I look forward to it for weeks.  Until next time-Take Care & God Bless!

Hugz 🙂

Thank You

Hello Bellas!

Well, we just dropped my son off at the airport to fly back to sunny LA.  He was here for 6 days and it felt like about 2.  As much as he wanted some cooler air he was bundled up like an Eskimo for the past few days.  Right now it is 50 degrees here and I guess his blood just isn’t used to this Michigan weather anymore.  We had a birthday gathering for him yesterday and there was a bonfire in the backyard until the wee hours of the morning…where he froze his butt off.  It was so cool out there was dew on the grass which was great to me.  Now it will take me a couple of days to get out of my slump and quit feeling sorry for myself because he left.  I know I should look at it like it was great that I got to see him but it’s always bittersweet for me when he comes home because he always goes back to LA.  He and I played around with a new site for me and we transferred this blog info to the new site.  You can check it out at www.cheribella.com  Now that’s an easy one to remember!  I still have a lot to learn so I guess he will just have to come back again right.  Hope everyone has been well and I hope to get around to making a card or two this weekend.  Before I forget I want to send out a big thank you to Jacquie for sending me her awesome Witchybella Halloween card.  Danyel my bella sistah—I have not forgotten you, I promise!  I will talk to you soon.

Hugz 🙂
