A New Card For A Dear Friend

I have been sick with dizziness for about 10 days now which has made it kind of difficult to get around.  Thank goodness I think that’s about done with now.

I have had a few challenges I wanted to try to enter and I have just barely missed the deadlines)-:  Anyhoo, last night hubby reminded me he needed a sympathy card for a coworker that had lost her mother.  Even though I have been off work for two years now due to my own health I have worked with this woman for many years.

Since I knew it was the cutoff for the Sugar Bowl challenge (theme blue) I decided to make the card in blue.  Of course my husband didn’t quite understand why I had a little girl on the front of a sympathy card.  So I had to explain that I would take care of that with the message inside.

I came across the perfect paper…I thought, that makes the young girl look like she is being carried away by birds.  This made me think of wings, you know, maybe angel wings….I don’t know, I hadn’t thought that far ahead yet.  I just knew I liked the paper and it was already 1:00 A.M!!!  So I put my card together….all in blue as requested, even colored my white ribbon with my copics to match her blue jeans.

Then the fun began.  Just what was I going to write to incorporate the birds????  By now it was very late.   I thought and I thought.  I scribbled and I scribbled.  I finally came up with:

Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by 2’s and 3’s, by dozens and hundreds.  Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, aunts, cousins, brothers and sisters.  But only one mother is given to you to cherish for life.  Even though she is gone now cherish your memories and hold them dear for they will get you through this.

I’m so sorry we were unable to be with you, but we were with you in spirit – each of us holding you up on one side as if being held by wings.

I know, kind of corny, but by the time I finished it was 6:00 A.M. and I just wanted to go to bed. The supplies I used are Stampin Up Night of Navy cardstock, DP Making Memories – Chloe’s Closet.

Copics:  E00, E11, R20, Y21, Y23, YR23, E35, B91, B93, B95, YR16, YR18, Y00, Y11, Y13, Y15, Y16, YG11, C1, C3, C8  and Copic Spicas Baby Blue, Sky Blue, Melon (green), Lemon.

I am entering this card in The Sugar Bowl Challenge .  I hope you enjoy my card…and I didn’t talk your ears off.  Until next time have a great life and keep smiling.

A Card For Michelle Oatman

I have already posted on my blog about Michelle and her injury.  There has been quit a drive for her for peple to send cards and make donations to help for her recovery.

You could send any card you wanted to her but I wanted to make one using one of the donkeys that was available….if you know about Michelle you understand why.  Anyway, I have been ill for the past 10 days and I just finished my card.  Unfortunately by the time I finished it and took the pictures of it….I missed the deadline by a couple of minutes, so I won’t be able to get in on the drawing.  That’s okay though.  What counts is the support we have given to Michelle in her time of need.
I thank those of you that have sent me emails asking me questions about her and also about Bella and her drive.  Everyone has been very supportive of both drives since I have posted them.
I must admit I was a little nervous about making Michelle a card.  I mean, come on, she is a top designer and I’m just little old me.  Then I decided it’s the thought that counts.  So here’s my card and I hope she enjoys it….again thanks to all of you that participated…I hope you got your cards done on time(-:

A Card For A Friend

A friend of mine has had 2 strokes within the last few months so I decided to make her a card.  The picture isn’t very good because it was taken at midnight when I had no natural light…so this was the best I could get.  We were leaving the next morning to visit her so I had no choice but to get the picture taken.
The cardstock is all Stampin Up and she is colored with copics.  I tried to blend her a little more than usual as if the light was coming straight at her. I don’t know if you can really tell by this by the picture or not.  I also tried adding white lines for movement…another new thing for me.  The card isn’t perfect but Nancy loved it and that’s all that mattered to me(-:
I am going to enter this card into The Wild Orchid Challenge ….say it with flowers.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend.  I look forard to posting something again soon.

Oh, I almost forgot something really important.  I was the lucky winner of the blog candy at Lol’s Blog.

Another Card For Bella

For those of you that have been following the story of  Bella here is another card I am going to send off to her today.  You can keep up with her progress by following Erin’s blog.  Bella is a beautiful young girl that is stronger than most all of us combined.  She and her family have been in my prayers daily even though I haven’t taken the time to send her as many cards as I had planned on.
Even though the blog candy that has been offered in Bella’s name is ending I urge everybody to continue in their support of Bella and her family.  We all have so much to be thankful for and it is always much better to give than receive.
If you are wanting to send a card to Bella the address is:

A Card For Bella

Bella Tucker is an 8-year-old girl who attends South School Elementary in Londonderry, New Hampshire.  Bella came down with a near fatal infection on Easter Sunday. Doctors gave little hope for this third graders’ survival, but after five days in a coma she miraculously survived.
Unfortunately, her survival from this infection was not without significant cost.  The infection caused extensive tissue damage, and on April 27, 2010, Bella underwent quadruple amputation surgery and is currently facing an extremely long and hard recovery at Children’s Hospital in Boston with extensive rehabilitation to follow, as she learns to live life without her limbs.
Bella is part of a gymnastics team with the daughter of a fellow stamper.  As  a stamping community everyone is reaching out in any way they can.  You can help support Bella and her family too by visiting http://www.bellatucker.org/

There are, as always, generous hearts out there holding Blog Hops for Bella.  If you would like to make a card for Bella please do and then visit Denise to start the hop for this week and get the address for Bella’s card.  I hope every one of you will find it in your heart to give to this beautiful little girl.

This is my card for Bella.  She is a Sugar Nellie called Fragile Beauty stamped on Neenah paper.  Then I colored my own background with my copics to match the image (it took time but it was great fun).  Cardstock is Stampin Up Regal Rose, Purely Pomagranate and Basic Black.  I used two border punches and a little heart charm and of course bling:)
I tried to show you a better shot of the punches and bling but it didn’t work very well.  The copics used are:  E50  E51  R20, YR23  Y21  Y23, RV32  RV34  R39, G14  FYG2, B21  B23, Y06  YR04, E31  E35, Spicas.

I hope you enjoy this card and you get busy and make one for Bella too.  If I can make one anyone can LOL.  I am very bad about making cards as you can all see from my blog.  I’m trying to get better about it though.

Happy 4th Everyone!

I don’t really have anything to post today but I wanted to tell everyone Happy 4th of July! What a beautiful day it is here in Michigan. The weather is perfect…no rain clouds in sight – or predicted so far:)

I hope you all have great things planned for the day. Family barbecues are usually the biggie but today we are going to take a drive and go watch the fireworks out on Lake St Clair. We’ve done this in the past and it’s always awesome. We go to a little bar/restaurant with umbrella tables that sit out on a deck. About 200ft off the water and have dinner and cocktails while we ooh and aah over the beauty of the fireworks:) Don’t you just love the sounds everybody makes while they watch fireworks:)

Before I forget, I just came across a new blog IMPRESSIONS ARE MADE HERE where Andrea does absolutely beautiful work. She is offering a blog candy right now if you visit her before July 12. It’s well worth the visit just to see her creations…so stop on by and take time to look around. Here is a picture of everything one lucky person is going to win…and I’m crossing my fingers:)

Well, I have to go pack up the cooler and get a move on.

Kickin’ It For Michelle

I just visited one of my favorite blogs and found out the designer has had a terrible injury and needs our help.  I’m sure many of you have enjoyed her beautiful work over the years and I’m also sure your heart will go out to her just as mine has.  Please read the letter below that was put out by Stampavie and see how to help her out.

Hugz,

Cheri

Dear friends,

We at Stampavie would very much appreciate if you would join us in supporting our US Representative, Design Team member and dear friend, Michelle Oatman.

On Wednesday evening, June 23, Michelle had an accident while tending her beloved donkeys which has left her blind in her right eye. She has shared the news of her accident in her blog post here (http://donkeysmiles.blogspot.com/2010/06/i-will-be-out-for-awhile-i-have-had.html) Michelle is an amazing stamper and is eager to be able to start crafting again. But she also has a lot of healing that needs to occur and she needs our support.

We at Stampavie want to help her on her road to recovery. While we all would like nothing more than to support her in person, some things are just not possible. So besides sending cyber-hugs, we are asking for PayPal donations which will be sent directly to Michelle to help “kick” the mounting medical costs associated with her surgeries and also to help her obtain an artificial eye.

To show your support for Michelle, please, please log into your PayPal account and make your donation payment, no matter how small, to the account info@stampavie.com.

Tina Wenke is also kindly working on a digital download (of a donkey, of course!) so please check back here for more details on that. You’ll be able to download it directly from our blog, all we ask in return is that you donate $3 to Michelle’s PayPal fund.

Michelle is a very loving and caring person and we are all lucky to call her “friend”! Michelle says that she is lucky to be married to her best friend. Together, they are parents to their 2 Toy Australian Shepherds, a cat, and their Miniature Donkeys that they raise. The love she gives her animals comes right back, as they keep her busy, entertained and happy. Now, we hope that the love she sends out to the stamping community and beyond will come back as well!

Could I ask you all to spread the word about this on your blogs, Facebook, Twitter etc, the more people who hear about this the better. Thanks for your help!
